Monitoring and Program Improvement

Monitoring and Program Improvement

Whether you're a State Education Agency (SEA) or Local Education Agency (LEA) special education director, TAESE offers support to help implement effective oversight and program improvement systems.

General Supervision

TAESE’s expert staff bring a wealth of experience in implementing general supervision activities at both the state and local levels. Drawing on this expertise, TAESE provides training to SEA and LEA staff on the eight areas of general supervision under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Integrated Monitoring

In addition to training, TAESE conducts both on-site and virtual monitoring to support SEA staff in overseeing local education agencies. Services include compliance record reviews, assistance with developing effective corrective action plans, and professional development and technical assistance to LEAs to improve special education programs.

LEA Program Review

TAESE has extensive experience conducting LEA-level, systemwide special education program reviews. These comprehensive reviews typically involve on-site observations, interviews with staff, and surveys completed by parents, students, staff, and administrators. In addition, student and parent focus groups are often conducted to gather deeper insights, and all findings are supported by thorough data analysis. The results are compiled into a detailed written report that outlines key findings and offers evidence-based recommendations for program improvement.

Customized Professional Development

TAESE offers tailored professional development to meet your LEA’s specific needs. This may include mentoring for leadership teams or targeted support for special education teachers, general educators, paraprofessionals, and administrators. Training can be delivered to small teams or at district-wide events and conferences.
