Developing/Updating Guidance Documents

Developing & Updating Guidance Documents

Turning complex IDEA requirements into clear, usable guidance.

Keeping special education guidance current is essential—but often challenging—for State Educational Agencies (SEAs) and Local Educational Agencies (LEAs). Ongoing changes in federal guidance from the U.S. Department of Education and evolving judicial rulings require regular updates to written procedures to ensure effective implementation of IDEA and state regulations.

Because this work is time‑intensive, it can easily be delayed or overlooked. TAESE helps SEAs and LEAs stay ahead by providing targeted support to develop, revise, and maintain clear, compliant, and practical guidance documents.

Our Process

TAESE brings extensive experience supporting SEAs and LEAs in the development and revision of special education guidance and procedures. Our collaborative approach ensures documents are not only compliant, but usable and aligned with real‑world practice.

  • Facilitating partner group input to reflect stakeholder perspectives
  • Conducting comparative guidance reviews to identify best practices across states and agencies
  • Drafting and revising guidance and procedures grounded in partner input and evidence‑based practices
  • Reviewing documents for IDEA alignment and regulatory compliance
  • Providing mentoring and training to support implementation of new or updated guidance

TAESE partners with you to create guidance documents that are clear, current, and built to last—supporting strong systems and better outcomes for students.
